历代诗人大多从《诗经》国风和汉乐府民歌中汲取营养,这有力地促进了中国古典诗歌现实主义传统的形成;但另一方面,却很少有人瞩目于自己同时代的民歌,更很少有人动手去搜集整理。因而,在文人文学消长递变的同时,在广大的民间总是有无数不知名的诗人在那里吟唱生活的欢乐和痛苦,尽管其中不乏闪光的艺术珍品,却往往自生自灭,随着时间的流逝而湮没无闻。这真是一个令人痛惜的巨大损失。但是到了晚明时期,情况有了很大的变化。相当不少的文人作家十分重视俚俗民歌,不仅给予极为崇高的评价,而且进行搜集整理,为我们保留了数量可观的明代民歌这一笔弥足珍贵的文学财富。陈宏绪《寒夜录》引卓人月《古今词统序》说:“我明诗让唐,词让
