Recently, a 3D textured solar cell developed by researchers in the United States will enter the International Space Station for experimental testing in 2014. The solar cells, made of carbon nanotubes, are covered with a layer of 3D film material that goes deeper into the cell when the sun’s rays strike the cell instead of reflecting part of the sun’s rays as conventional flat cells do.
