矿区出露地层是以片岩、石英岩、白云岩和含铁石英岩、千枚岩为主的一套厚度大于一千七百米以上的中一浅变质岩系。该套地层于矿区构成一轴向呈北西西-南东东而北西端扬起收敛向南东方向倾伏舒展的复式向斜。前人根据岩性和变质程度的差异,从上至下将其划分为七大层,总称为石碌群(sL)(划分见表一)。其中第六层为矿区铁、铜、钴的主要含
