The 2016 global launch of the spacecraft has ended. Overall, the number of spacecraft launched in 2016 and the number of spacecraft launched were lower than in the previous two years but are still at historic highs. The biggest change is the sudden downturn in Russia and the rapid rise of China. Russia lost its first place in the world in annual launches for 12 years, ranking third only to third place in recent years. For the first time, China broke the number 20 annual ranking first with the United States.
