Objective To explore the relationship between social support, coping style and the incidence of post-hypertension depression. Methods A total of 112 male hypertensive convalescentants were surveyed using tools such as Self-rating Depression Scale, Social Support Scale and Coping Style Questionnaire. Results The scores of social support score, objective support score, subjective support score and positive coping score and depression score were all lower than those of non-depression score (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between negative coping score and social support score. Conclusions The lack of social support and inappropriate coping styles may be one of the social psychological factors that affect the depression of hypertensive convalescent couple.
