江泽民总书记于1993年8月21日在中央纪委第二次全会上发表了重要讲话,向全党部署了反腐败斗争。嗣后,各地区、各部门党政机关,按照中央的部署和要求,把反腐败斗争扎扎实实地开展起来。为了及时向中央反映各地区、各部门开展反腐败斗争的情况,中央纪委专门出了《反腐败工作信息》。这份《信息》办得较好,领导爱看,尉健行同志在几次会上给予了充分的肯定,并专门抽时间,找搞《信息》的同志谈话,进行具体的指导与鼓励。中央领导同志在一些会议讲话中,也多次引用《信息》上刊登的材料。有些中央领导还在《信息》上作过重要批示。
