Synthetic seismograms have evolved into today’s theoretical and physical modeling techniques. The explorer is therefore interested in composite records because the only material information about the subsurface geology comes from scarce drilling information in the form of cores and logs. Exploration personnel must make comparisons and interpretations based on this one-dimensional information to illustrate the three-dimensional geological structure and sequence of stratigraphy. An explorer creates a synthetic seismic trace from the acoustic logging curve and compares it to a seismic trace obtained from a two-dimensional or three-dimensional seismic survey to locate the existing drilling information along a single line or over an area Expand. In short, extrapolate the existing data into a possible 3D geological context. But how much trust can be given to this extrapolation?
