研究一种具有光敏液晶(LC)深层的可调谐光学衰减器(TOA)。将光敏LC材料涂覆在侧边抛磨光纤(SPF)抛磨区表面。在环境温度为45℃时,器件衰减值可调谐范围达15dB。在周期性泵浦光照射下,器件调谐性能可逆并可重复,响应时间小于5s。泵浦光照射时,光敏LC材料发生相变,其涂覆层折射率发生变化,器件衰减值随之改变。本文的TOA结构简单,成本低,易于同其它光纤器件连接和集成,在全光通信系统中有潜在应用价值。
A tunable optical attenuator (TOA) with a photosensitive liquid crystal (LC) depth is investigated. The photosensitive LC material is applied to the surface of the polishing area of the side polishing fiber (SPF). At ambient temperature of 45 ℃, the attenuation of the device can be tuned up to 15dB. Under periodic pump light irradiation, the device tuning performance reversible and repeatable, the response time is less than 5s. When the pump light is irradiated, the phase change occurs in the photosensitive LC material, the refractive index of the coating layer changes, and the attenuation value of the device changes accordingly. The TOA of this text is simple in structure, low in cost, easy to connect and integrate with other optic fiber devices, have potential application value in all-optical communication system.
