If we compare the study of underground coal gasification with cutting a long tunnel, mankind finally reaches the entrance to this exploration. In November 1994, a research group led by Professor Yu Li of China University of Mining and Technology won a worldwide breakthrough in underground gasification tests of coal so that the calorific value of underground gas per cubic meter reached more than 3,000 kcal. In other words, this high calorific value underground gas is not only used for pipelines but also used directly by urban residents in Xuzhou.
