马克思与列宁曾预言的自然科学与社会科学的融合。今天已成为现实,全球性的科学向交叉科学发展的潮流已经形成。在科学内部,存在着学科与学科之间的交叉;在科学外部,科学与文化、与经济、与社会相互融合,这个潮流是与今天的社会进步紧密相联的。 21世纪是科学技术与掌握科学技术的人的时代,今后的科研机关、大专院校不再仅仅是产生真理、智慧的场所,也是生产力的发源地,科技产业将成为社会的支柱产业。而任何一个重大科研课题的研究,都是多学科的综合,发展交叉科学,正是我创建中国管理科学院的重要依据,因为管理科学本身正是交叉科学的产物
