This article describes a recently developed Standard Calculated Junction Capacitor with the highest accuracy developed by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). The capacitor has a vertical axis and its effective length is determined by a central shield rod, where the lower shield rod is axially displaceable and the displacement is measured by an interferometer. The paper describes the principle of the structure and performance, and gives the initial measurement results, uncertain degree in the order of 10 ~ (-7).
