随着２０００年和２００１年南部西电东送通道第一批７个发输变电项目和第二批９个发输变电项目先后开工，为完成２００５年输电广东１０００万千瓦任务的大规模西电东送工程已经展开。西部贵州、云南、广西各省（区）动员各方面的力量，“举全省之力”加快水、火电工程建设。
