小型卫星地球站(VSAT)是一种具有甚小口径天线的、智能的卫星通信地球站。VSAT网络是指由大量的小型卫星地球站和一个较大的中枢地球站协调组成的网络,并支持大范围的双向综合电信和信息传输业务。中国气象局目前正在实施的气象卫星综合应用业务系统(9210工程)的气象通信网采用的就是美国休斯公司提供的VSAT产品,即卫星综合业务网络系统(ISBN)和电话地球站系统(TES)。该网络是我国目前最大的专用VSAT网络,它由一个主站(国家气象中心)、30个次站(区域气象中心)和300多个小站(地市气象台及部分气象雷达站)组成。每个端站包括一套数据地球站(PES)和一套电话地球站(TES)设备,或者一套TES和PES室内单元共用的一套室外射频单元及一副天线的混合站(HES)。
The Small Satellite Earth Station (VSAT) is an intelligent satellite communications earth station with a very small aperture antenna. The VSAT network refers to a network of coordinated large numbers of small satellite earth stations and a larger hub earth station and supports a wide range of two-way integrated telecommunications and information transmission services. China Meteorological Administration is currently implementing the meteorological satellite integrated application service system (9210 project) meteorological communications network is used by Hughes Inc. VSAT products, namely the integrated satellite service system (ISBN) and the telephone earth station system (TES) . The network is currently China’s largest dedicated VSAT network, which consists of a main station (National Meteorological Center), 30 sub-stations (Regional Meteorological Center) and more than 300 stations (prefectural meteorological stations and some weather radar stations). Each end station includes a PES and TES equipment or a set of outdoor RF units and an antenna hybrid station (HES) that are common to both TES and PES indoor units.
