Recently, some of the more premature mutations were found in Japanese mandarin, Satsuma. These mutants were colored earlier than the parent tree fruits, with increased sugar content and fruit juice rates, lower acidity, and availability from September to early October. This article describes the occurrence and characteristics of these mutants.
