他大学毕业后分到国家石油部工作。后到海南创业,完成原始积累后回到北京,创办万通房地产公司,开发的新世界广场被看作是北京房地产发展史上的一个里程碑;而后,自己又组建了红石公司,公司开发的“现代城”是北京销售最好的项目。他将房地产开发上升到哲学的高度,并写出了《茶满了》一书,他充分认识到房地产市场化中亲和力的因素。“现代城”营造的SOHO一族理念,令北京白领趋之若鹜。他是精明的商人,不仅精通市场运作,也深悉现代人的物质与精神需求,成为中国房地产界的一个新高度。
