This article outlines the evolution of the S & T system, development strategies, policy priorities, relevant laws and regulations and specific measures of the United States from the Second World War to the 1970s and the 1980s and 1990s. It also analyzes the different characteristics of S & T policies in different periods and points out Some problems in the U.S. science and technology policy and some enlightenments to our country.
