(九)用第二外语学习第三外语在排伊玲和波克的课程时,有一门必修课:外语。外语里有西班牙语、德语、法语等等。其中列有中文,但这个中学里并没有开中文课。本想让波克和伊玲选西班牙语的,因为在美国西班牙语是除英语之外最有用的一门语言。但许多学生选西班牙语,全部满员。想来想去,就替他们选修了法语。在开学的前几个星期,伊玲和波克的重点全部放在英文和其它的课程上,结果一连几次的法语小考都是 C,连 B 也没有得到。而我们几乎帮不上什么忙。法语中有些词与英文很相似,如汽车,
