When the concept of broadband access quickly became the reality around us, access technologies competed for their sphere of influence at different points in the “last mile.” Such as Ethernet, ADSL, Cable Modem, fiber optic home, Wi-Fi technology, etc., they have their own advantages and disadvantages, and continuous development in the application process. However, in some special application fields or situations, these access solutions often have some limitations on layout, cost, bandwidth, etc., in some paragraphs in the middle of the “last mile.” One of the most recent broadband connectivity solutions in the world combining wireless and fiber optic technologies, Free Space Optics (FSO), is quietly entering China and is expected to fill these gaps in the broadband access market. FSO and various types of network connection and access technology together, can provide more flexible and perfect broadband access solutions.
