在1972年和1985年，美国耳鼻咽喉头颈外科学会听力及平衡委员会发表了关于报告梅尼埃病治疗结果的标准。报告证实该标准对理解梅尼埃病及其治疗是非常有用的。根据新的知识，该标准明显地需要进一步精确地修定。根据上述观点，委员会确定了几个指导原则。保留和融合在1972年和1985年报告中所推荐的方法，报告标准应该叙述清晰，直接可以使用，尽可能的简单，而且有广泛的使用范围，不需要特殊的设备，易于进行统计学评估和比较研究结果。此标准应该是反映该病严重程度有意义的方法。
In 1972 and 1985, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Hearing and Balance Committee published a report on the outcome of Meniere’s disease. The report confirms that the standard is very useful for understanding Meniere’s disease and its treatment. According to new knowledge, the standard obviously needs further revision. From the above point of view, the Commission has identified several guiding principles. The methodologies recommended in the 1972 and 1985 reports should be retained and integrated. The reporting criteria should be clear, straightforward, as simple as possible, and have a wide range of uses. No special equipment is required and statistical evaluation is easy. Compare the results. This criterion should be a meaningful way of reflecting the severity of the disease.
