阳台上所养的桩坯,选择何时进行造型修剪很重要。是事关盆景养护制作成败的又一关键。许多专业书刊都认为除酷暑严寒都可以进行。笔者认为这比较笼统。从实际造型、绑扎、修剪后的效果看,必须因地制宜,考虑养护桩坯所处的地理环境因素来选择恰当的时期,灵活处理,区别对待,所以,就必须根据其阳台上特定环境和自然条件,如楼层、朝向以及风的强度、干湿度、光照等诸多因素来选择最佳时期,进行造型修剪、绑扎,以避免对桩坯造成不必要的伤害。笔者从多次反复实践中得出,阳台上的桩坯造型的最佳时应选在春季桩坯萌芽前一个星期为好,其理由是:大多数阳台都是坐北朝南,一年中大部份时期都处在空气干燥、风力大、光照强的环境中,尤其是朝南的阳台上,上述现象特别明显。植物水分挥发快,正常生长水分补充都比较难以跟上,隔天不浇水,植物的叶片枝条就易干瘪失水,如选择这些时期进行大面积的修剪绑扎造型,势必对植物的正常生长产生不利影响,尤其对一些根系生长得并不发达的桩
