翻译美国出版的(Illustrated Churchil’s Medical Dictionary)单卷本是一个十分艰苦的工作,要求译者对全部词条以及其释义全译。全译就易出误,作者在本文例举了一些误译的对应词或对应词释文欠准确的例句。其原因可归结为:(1)对原文理解欠准确,汉文意思表达欠妥;(2)个别对应词选择以及释义不太规范化,不为人接受;(3)缺乏背景知识,查阅资料面窄、工具书不齐备;(4)医学、语言(英汉)两基础兼容有较大的难度。
It is a very difficult task to translate the Illustrated Churchil’s Medical Dictionary into a single volume, requiring the translator to translate all the terms and their definitions. The whole translation is easy to make mistakes, the author in this article cites some mistranslation of the corresponding word or corresponding word explanation is not accurate example sentences. The reason can be attributed to: (1) lack of understanding of the original text, the Chinese meaning is not properly expressed; (2) the choice of individual correspondence and paraphrase is not standardized, unacceptable; (3) lack of background knowledge, access to information narrow, Reference books are not prepared; (4) Medical, language (English-Chinese) two basic compatibility is more difficult.
