世界合成橡胶工业始于20世纪30年代。1962年,世界合成橡胶消费量首次超过天然橡胶,并一直保持至今。合成橡胶堪称世界交通的基石,初期为天然橡胶的替代品,现已成为所有高性能轮胎所不可或缺的原材料。在密封、绝缘等领域也起着不可替代的作用,无论是洗衣机里耐高温高压的橡胶密封件,还是高尔夫球核或三角带、传送带等产品,都需要用到合成橡胶。1958年11月14日,重庆长寿化工厂第一套氯丁橡胶装置建成投产,开始了中国工业化生产合成橡胶的历史。通过技术引进、自主研发等方式,我国在20世纪末全面实现
