not…until是英语学习者经常遇到的一个特殊结构.这个结构在意义上和用法上都较难掌握,本文试图做一分析。一、until与till的意义和用法基本相同.till是一般用词,不能用于句首;until比较正式,用于句首时,表示强调。例如: Until he arrived,we could do nothing. 他不到,我们什么事也干不了。
Not...until is a special structure that English learners often encounter. This structure is difficult to grasp in terms of meaning and usage. This article attempts to do an analysis. 1. The meaning and usage of till and till are basically the same. till is a general term, it cannot be used in the beginning of a sentence; untill is more formal, and when used in the beginning of a sentence, it is emphasized. For example: Until he arrived, we could do nothing. He couldn’t. We couldn’t do anything.
