在山东半岛与辽东半岛遥相对峙的海面上,散落着无数美丽的小岛,其中那座离长山岛不远的,面积仅约0.25平方公里的小岛,因栖息着数不清的海鸟而特别出名。这岛形状似一只停卧着的老式跑车,故起名为车由岛,如今人们均习惯称其为鸟岛了。前不久,我乘游船从长山岛码头出发,先北行半个小时,绕过北长山岛的九丈崖后,再向东行,又驶出约摸4海里的路程,前方突然现出一座黑色岛礁。当地随行的人说,那就是鸟岛。我惊喜着向前望去,只见那小岛在海浪的间隙中,闪现着与明亮海平面形成明显反差的神秘身影,一阵海雾浸来,小岛影象渐渐淡去,可它那凝秀而上的形象,却依然清晰地跃出在平静的海面上。
