2004年6月3日,国际电信联盟 (ITU)和香港特区政府分别宣布中国香 港获得ITU 2006年世界电信展的举办 权。2006年世界电信展的申办成功是特 区政府精心筹划和不懈努力的结果。香 港特区政府很早就开始申办工作。由于 世界电信展是兼具重要政治影响和商业 价值的世界展览盛事,因此申办权的竞 争异常激烈。除特区政府为此付出了巨 大的努力,充分展示了香港所具有的办 展优势外,中央政府的全力支持也获得 电信展董事会和ITU秘书处的认可,使 得申办工作最终获得成功。
On June 3, 2004, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that Hong Kong, China won the right to host ITU Telecom World 2006. The successful bid for 2006 TELECOM World Expo is the result of carefully planned and unremitting efforts by the SAR government. The HKSAR government started bidding very early. Since World Telecom is a world exhibition event that has both significant political impact and commercial value, the competitive bidding is fierce. In addition to the huge efforts exerted by the SAR government to fully demonstrate the advantages of Hong Kong in running an exhibition, the full support of the Central Government has also been endorsed by the board of directors of the Telecom Expo and the ITU Secretariat, making the bid success finally successful.
