Clinical observations of normal women show that the use of a pharmaceutically acceptable dose of LRF and its highly active analog (LRF-Ag) inhibits ovulation and induces functional luteal lysis. In view of LRF mouse can directly affect ovarian suppression of gonadotropin. The authors investigated the possibility that LRF and its LRF-Ag also directly inhibit FSH-mediated steroidogenesis in human granulosa cells. Human follicles were obtained from 7 normal women (age 35-46 years old with ovarian or ovarian wedge biopsy at the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle and on the other side from polycystic ovary syndrome.
