背景:时下坊间关于中国的“龙”的议论可说是纷纷嚷嚷,不亦乐乎。新年将至,各种图腾更是比目皆是,尽管多数人认为中国龙不应从中国文化中让位给中国狼,或者中国熊猫,但外国人对“龙”的印象不好也是不争的事实。一般人都知道,中文“龙”翻成英语,多少年来都是叫“dragon”,而dragon在西方人概念里却是一种凶猛、狰狞的神话动物。当中国人称自己是龙的传人时,在西方人眼里可能就是另外一种形象。如何解决这个认识差距,让我们听听翻译教学富有丰富经验的范守义老师怎么说的:
