According to the American Lexington Institute reported on August 12, 2015, the U.S. Department of Defense hopes to change the organizational form and management style of its information network to create a next-generation cyber security system. The system must be able to cope with evolving threats, including preventing insiders from malicious activity, providing total security, increasing the speed and effectiveness of defensive response, and reducing operational costs. The system is designed to promote standardization, provide seamless cybersecurity defense, enhance end-to-end transparency, enhance situational awareness, rapidly detect and mitigate cyberthreats, and improve the efficiency of information sharing.
