雷锋(1940年—1962年),原名雷正兴,出生在湖南长沙望城县简家塘一个贫苦农民家里,不满7岁就成了孤儿。1949年8月,雷锋的家乡解放了。在党和人民政府的关怀下,他参加了儿童团,进小学读书,并第一批加入了中国少年先锋队。1956年,他小学毕业后参加了工作,在乡政府当通信员,后在中共望城县委当公务员。1957年2月,雷锋在团山湖农场开拖拉机时,加入中国共产主义青年团。1958年11月,在他不满18岁时,来到鞍钢参加工业建设。1960年1月参加人民解放军,在沈阳军区某工程兵某
Lei Feng (1940-1962), formerly known as Lei Zhengxing, was born in a poor peasant family in Jianjiantang, Wangcheng County, Changsha, Hunan Province. He was orphaned under the age of seven. In August 1949, Lei Feng’s hometown was liberated. With the care of the party and the people’s government, he participated in children’s groups, went to primary school, and joined the first group of Chinese young pioneers. In 1956, he joined the work after graduating from primary school, worked as a communications officer in the township government, and later became a civil servant in the CPC Wangcheng County Committee.
