本文旨在探索英语会话中对模糊语言使用的性别差异,共随机抽选SCoSE(Saarbrücken Corpus of Spoken English)中的部分男女会话,其中含32245个英文单词。
The purpose of this paper is to explore the gender differences in the use of vague language in English conversation and to select randomly some of the men and women conversations in the SCoSE (Saarbrücken Corpus of Spoken English), including 32245 English words. According to the Fuzzy expression classification method of Channel, the fuzzy words in the corpus were analyzed, 989 fuzzy words were identified and divided into 8 categories. After using independent sample t-test these fuzzy terms and the entire corpus for statistical analysis. The result of statistics shows that the vocabularies occupy 3.067% of the total discourse, and the frequency of fuzziness words is significantly higher in females than in males. There is no significant difference in the overall average frequency of use. Men and women have different preferences for certain types of fuzzy words. Most of these differences are related to the pragmatic principles of communication that people are accustomed to using in their communication.
