人是有影身的动物,人的道身与影身之间的辩证关系乃是人之所以为人的本质。这里所谓“身”指的当然不是人的形躯,而是人底超形躯而卓立的精神生命。“影身”就是人底精神生命的影子。人的精神生命总是朝着某一方向自诚自直的。这个自诚自直的精神生命——一个无法与其所依赖的意义世界分离的形上承义体——就是我们所谓的“道身”。人的道身原是通过他底朝直用中的根身(直立走路的形躯)依身起念、依念作茧地挺立起来的。有趣的是,此自诚的道身也和用直的根身一样,都是有一个影子跟随着
