粮农组织推出监测蝗虫新法近日,联合国粮农组织的治蝗专家推出了一种有效的监测方法,即使用全球定位系统装置(GPS)和一台便携式电脑。GPS可以精确记录周围蝗虫活动情况,并通过便携式电脑(内装专门软件)将有关信息经车载无线电传输给治蝗办公室。由于蝗虫迁移速度很快,一天达100多公里,所以此种方法的迅速准确是以前手工记录无法比拟的。目前粮农组织已在18个国家使用了GPS和便携式电脑,实践证明仪器工作良好,并且经受住了高温和沙暴的考验。粮农组织治蝗专家指出,监测蝗虫主要注意两种情况,一是蝗虫的繁殖条件,包括土壤湿度是否有足够供给幼虫的食物;二是蝗
FAO Launches New Law to Monitor Locusts Recently, FAO’s locust experts introduced an effective monitoring method using GPS and a portable computer. GPS can accurately record the activities of locusts around, and through the portable computer (built-in specialized software) will be related to the information transmitted by car radio control locust office. Because locusts migrate very fast, reaching more than 100 kilometers a day, the rapid accuracy of such methods is unmatched by previous manual records. At present, FAO has used GPS and portable computers in 18 countries and has proved that the instrument is working well and has stood the test of heat and sandstorms.
