2005年11月,作为安徽省六安市副市长的王伟,日程排得满满的。据六安市《市政府2005年11月份大事记》记载,王伟当月又是陪同我国驻芬兰大使及夫人参观考察,又是陪同省长王金山在六安开发区和金寨县、霍山县视察,还频频在六安市森林防火工作会议、全市灾民建房现场会、全市创建“平安六安”动员大会、全市高致病性禽流感防控工作紧急会议等全市性会议上,代表市政府发表讲话。那时的王伟,可谓风光无限。一年后,王伟站在了人民法院的被告席上。2006年11月17日,池州市中级人民法院公开审理由池州市检察院提起公诉的王伟涉嫌受贿案件。2007年2月13日,池州市中院以受贿罪判处王伟有期徒刑7年6个月,并处没收个人财产10万元。法院审理查明,王伟在担任舒城县县长、县委书记、城区综合改造工程指挥部政委、六安市副市长期间,利用手中掌管的承包工程、人事安排等职务便利,先后非法收受30人次财物,共计人民币50.1万元,美元1.1万元,购物卡计人民币5.9万元。
