末端脱氧核苷酰转移酶(简称TdT)最先分别由Bollum等(1960)和Krakow等(1962)发现。1968年Bollum等发现小牛胸腺中亦含有TdT,对其生物化学特性进行了研究,证明TdT与普通的DNA聚合酶不同,它毋须核酸模板作指导就可以延长DNA的核苷酸链,故在DNA修复与复制过程中没有明显的生物学作用。随后,Chang等通过对小牛很多组织的观察,发现TdT仅存在于胸腺之中,且在胎牛的早期阶段就产生,随着胚胎的发育,活性不断增
Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) was first discovered by Bollum et al. (1960) and Krakow et al. (1962), respectively. In 1968, Bollum et al. Found that calf thymus also contained TdT, and its biochemical characteristics were studied. It is proved that TdT, unlike ordinary DNA polymerase, can extend the nucleotide chain of DNA without the need of nucleic acid template, DNA repair and replication process has no obvious biological role. Later, Chang et al. Observed many tissues of the calf and found that TdT is present only in the thymus and is produced at an early stage of the fetal bovine, with increasing activity as the embryo develops
