茂腔戏《红高粱》改编自著名作家莫言的同名小说,它采取了当前剧院流行的大制作模式,舞台布景、唱腔唱段、故事情节都经过了创新改进,但是也存在着不够精良、改编随意、特色模糊、同质化等弊病。尽管莫言小说具有较强的戏剧化因素,对茂腔的刻意描写非常突出,但由于莫言小说有着不拘成法、叙事繁复、感觉魔幻等特点,对莫言小说进行戏剧改编并非易事。地方戏的生路在于立足地方文化语境,发掘民间文化资源,彰显自身的区别性特征,而不在现代改编大潮中迷失。这与上个世纪借古讽今、借古喻今的历史剧创作相比,是一个反向改造的过程。
