In recent years, the incidence of dengue in Latin America and the Caribbean has been on the rise due to the fact that Aedes aegypti has not been effectively controlled. Locally, the main breeding ground for Aedes aegypti is a reservoir of water, with washbasins and buckets the most common. Therefore, local governments have taken measures such as the use of pesticides, requiring local residents to place turtles and other creatures in washbasins and buckets, and cleaning 2-3 times a week to control Aedes aegypti. However, these measures did not achieve the expected results.
