Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has decided to close its tire plant in the Philippines and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2009, resulting in the loss of about 500 of the 600 employees at the Philippine tire factory. The plan to close the tire plant in the Philippines is part of Goodyear’s strategic development plan and is likely to shift the production of the Philippine tire plant to the company’s cost in the Asia Pacific region
