Britain unveiled the toughest austerity package in public finances in decades to devise a plan to reduce deficits that cover almost all public services, except for health care. Total spending cuts will reach 128 billion U.S. dollars over the next four years. Britain's coalition government (Conservatives and Liberal Democratic Party) claimed that the new emergency budget is not only necessary to eliminate the government budget deficit equivalent to nearly 12% of GDP, but also necessary to reduce public debt.
