近年来,表现年轻人生存状态的日本青春文学异军突起。继村上春树和吉本芭娜娜开其先河之后,青春文学受到读者的广泛欢迎。其写作主题一般分为性·恋爱、学生生活、家庭·社会、死四大类,反映了青年人在面对各种社会问题时所感受到的迷茫和困惑。青春文学的盛行与日本文坛各种奖项的推波助澜有很大关系,而其共同点是都具有极强的现实性和社会性,特别是青春期的女孩子感觉更加强烈,所以青山七惠的《一个人的好天气》受到中日两国读者的欢迎也就不足为奇。这也表现了日本文学本身的审美价值已逐渐为中国读者所认同和接受,以及目前中国读者对外国文学的需求。如何解读日本青春文学及其引领的巨大市场,是日本文学研究今后亟待探讨的课题。
