This book is written by a famous scholar and senior professor who graduated in Department of History at Peking University and chose world history as his field during his early years.Forty years later,the author was remembered as "a true gifted student" by one of his teachers in a public address.After graduation,the author was assigned to teach American history at Peking University.In his teaching career,he first brought the studies on American history into considerations of capitalism,then put American history and the history of capitalism under the exploration of world history,and thus developed the three fields or dimensions of his unique style of research and writing.
