我们所处身的这个世纪带给人类的血腥灾难和科技巨大飞跃是空前的。世界在这个世纪形成的电讯、交通等等现代化能力极大地改变了人类的生存和生活。在本世纪的最后几年构成的发展经济的主宰思想尤为强烈的改变着人们的价值观念。而以什么样的姿态进入下个世纪,下个世纪又将怎样接纳人类,成为人们最严肃的思考课题。美国前国务卿、斯坦福大学国际问题研究所顾问委员主席乔治·舒尔茨本着理性的忧患释析下个世纪各国可能构成的世界状态。
The bloody catastrophe and technological leaps we have brought to mankind in this century we live in are unprecedented. The modernized capabilities of the world in this century of telecommunications, transportation and so on have greatly changed the survival and life of mankind.
