翻开西方美术史,我们看到经过古希腊、古罗马文明和文艺复兴两次高峰期之后,随之而来的是19世纪美术高峰。但这一次高峰却失去了前两次清晰的中轴线和轮廓,我们只是感觉到它脉动的节律和强悍的气势,多向多元的美术流派突然以五花八门的态势向人们涌来,不用说,这正是现代工业文明的副产品。西方的工业革命进程给绘画艺术注入了兴奋剂,到了20世纪末期更显出亢奋的态势。而在我们这个繁衍几千年的泱泱农业大国中,工业文明的介入则是一个曲折而缓慢的过程,它在近现代的出现仅仅是个“文明”的象征,对绘画远没有产生质的影响,只是在近几十年里人们才开始思索工业文明与绘画的对应关
