In the 1930s, the precarious China and the steady-seeking United States were closely linked by Japan’s invasion of China. Since September 18, 1931, Japan launched the Incident of September 18, and encroached upon northeastern China, and on July 7, 1937, during the all-out war of resistance against Japan, the trilateral relations between China, the United States and Japan can be described as complex. The U.S. policy toward China is even more intriguing. The traditional American mainstream media, represented by the New York Times, has always attached great importance to reporting on China. It adheres to rigorous and realistic reporting philosophy, disseminating news and information, analyzing the merits and demerits, timely and accurate coverage, keen observation and uniqueness, which shows the good quality of the international newspapers and periodicals. Based on the New York Times reports on China and the combination of the decrypted FRUS documents, this article attempts to clarify the context of the development and evolution of the U.S. policy towards China through the collation and analysis of raw materials. The Internal Relations Between Traditional Mainstream Media and U.S.A China Policy.
