This article introduces the basic situation of the shipping industry in Jiangsu and forecasts the development of the shipping industry. In the coming few years, the foreign trade and domestic trade in the province will rise sharply. The economic development will bring new development opportunities for the shipping industry in the province. The objective and specific measures for structural readjustment of the industry are to adjust the structure of transportation capacity, set up management qualification management system, strengthen maritime market access management, formulate shipping technology policies, promote the reform of state-owned enterprises, improve the quality of marine personnel and establish maritime management information system.
