Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress: The Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (hereinafter referred to as “the New York Convention of 1958”) was approved by the UN Economic and Social Council on June 10, 1958 in New York City. Forty-five Adopted by the International Commercial Arbitration Conference, attended by representatives from the countries and relevant international organizations, and came into effect on June 7, 1959. To date, seventy-one countries have acceded to the Convention. The main thrust of the 1958 New York Convention is the requirement that each State party recognize and enforce foreign arbitral awards and the conditions for its recognition and enforcement.
