早晨我想看一下股票的网上代理情况,很不走运.连着试了几个URL.无一响应。幸好我不是急着要在网上进行大笔交易的阀佬。否则早就火冒三丈了。接着,我试着访问一个网上商店.又被告知“Web 站点可能遇到技术困难”。接连碰壁.现在不过才是早晨8点钟。这个专栏,我每周写一篇。已经有四年了.从我笔尖流泻近185,000个单词.大多是对因特网某一方面的溢美之辞。我为信息聚合.交流还有购物唱过赞歌。我爱因特网.爱它的方方面面.爱的方式也各种各样.但一搁笔.总有一种挥之不去的情绪:我也憎恨因特网。为什么?就因为因特网上每一种东西都有缺博:搜索引擎不够智能.门户不够个性化.购物不够迅捷.内容站点的组织太过零乱。每种东西都可以做得更好。想到为完善网络需要进行的工作.我就有些泄气.我们能够应对这场挑战吗?

I love the Internet, I love every aspect of it, I love it in a variety of ways, but there is always a lingering mood: I also hate the Internet. Why? Because there is a lack of everything on the Internet: search engines are not smart enough, portals are not personalized, shopping is not quick enough, and content sites are too messy. Everything can be done better. I’m a bit discouraged at the work I need to do to improve my network. Can we deal with this challenge?
