Objective: To study the role of telomerase activity in the pathogenesis and development of cervical cancer and the clinical significance of the detection of telomerase activity in the screening of cervical cancer. Methods: The telomerase activity of 21 cervical cancer tissues, 10 normal cervical tissues and HeLa cells of different concentrations was detected by polymerase chain reaction-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (PCR-ELISA). RESULTS: Telomerase activity was not detected in 10 normal cervical tissues; telomerase activity was positive in 20 of 21 cervical cancer tissues; telomerase activity was found in all HeL cells with ≥ 100 samples. For positive expression. Conclusion: Telomerase activity plays an important role in the occurrence and development of cervical cancer. The detection of telomerase activity also contributes to the screening of cervical cancer.
