济南东方书社是在抗日的烽火中诞生的。1928年“五三惨案”后,日本帝国主义的凶杀抢掠,极大地激起了山东人民的反日怒潮。当时,在济南教育图书社工作的刘震初、王畹芗深感国弱受人欺的耻辱,决定要用图书来宣传抗日,唤起民众,打击侵略者。不久,二人毅然离开了教育图书社,于1929年2月,创建了济南东方书社,以“御侮、雪耻、强国、拯救民族”为宗旨,推销进步书刊,宣传抗日救国。经过八年的辛勤耕耘,开拓拼搏,书社初具规模。1937年卢沟桥一声枪响,“七七”事变爆发,中国人民全
