Interleuldn-6 (IL-6) has been shown to have several effects on the nervous system.In the present study, we examined the changes of recombinant human IL-6 immunoreactivity in cultured hippocampal cells during anoxia.The results showed that very light intensity of rhIL-6 irnmunoreactivity (rhlL-6-1R) was detected in cell bodies and processes of both neurons and glial cells under normaxia.A rapid increase in rhlL-6-IR was found in both of neurons and glial cells after 1-4 h of anoxic exposure.
