1961年出生于天津。适逢三年自然灾害。父亲刘星梧成分:店员,母亲齐玉霞成分:医师。1968年入小学第一天上街游行,庆祝中共‘九大’胜利召开,鞋被踩丢赤脚而归。积极参加革命样板戏的排演活动。1974年读中学。积极参加校内外文体活动,到工厂农村慰问演出。在校内美术组史如源老师指导下学习水墨花鸟、人物画及篆刻。配合批林批孔运动,画了大量漫画。第一件国画作品“心里话”参加在天津艺术博物馆举办的“天津中国画展”。
